HOU Denghua, a professor, doctor of law and part-time lawyer & arbitrator, is the dean of the Departmentof Law. He serves as a member of China Law Association on Civil Procedure, China Case Law Association and Beijing Law Society. He also serves the Lawyer Research Association of Beijing Law Society as secretary-general.

In recent years, he has published over 60 academic papers. He published Research on the Legal System of Arbitration Agreements-the Procedural Guarantee of Parties' Rights from the Perspective of Autonomy of Will (Intellectual Property Publishing House, 2012). And he edited Maintenance Disputes, Neighborhood Disputes, Divorce Disputes, Inheritance Disputes, Consumption Disputes (China Legal Publishing House, 2007), Civil Procedural Law (Huazhong University of Science and Technology Press, 2018) and Selected Cases of Environmental Law (Huazhong University of Science and Technology Press, 2020.06), Labor Contract, Labor and Personnel Management, Social Insurance, Labor Protection from Work Injuries, Labor Disputes Settlement, and Labor Remuneration (China Legal Publishing House,2006). He undertook the project of Right and Power in the Era of We Media of the Chinese National Social Science Foundation, as well as more than 20 projects either at the provincial-ministerial level or and at the regional level being legislation projects.
